Agrivoltaics integrates solar energy with crop production to address food, energy, and water challenges while improving land-use sustainability. It reshapes biophysical, ecological, and socio-economic interactions within farming systems through circular and agroecological principles. The co-location of solar panels and crops modifies light, microclimate, soil moisture, and overall system productivity. Emerging system properties influence resource efficiency, ecological services, farm resilience, and energy dependence reduction, while also diversifying farm income and stabilizing yields under climate variability. Overall, agrivoltaics enhances system sustainability and supports more resilient and multifunctional agricultural landscapes.
